    Canada Post Strike

Canada Post’s operations continue to be disrupted by the Canadian Union of Postal Worker’s (CUPW) national strike.

Approximately 55,000 postal workers went on strike on November 15, demanding better pay and improved working conditions. Despite ongoing discussions, the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement, with federal mediators determining that the negotiations remain too far apart a few weeks ago.

Mail and parcels are not being delivered at this time, but some post offices remain open with limited services.

CUPW has lowered its offer, but Canada Post maintains that the union’s demands remain excessive, particularly in light of six consecutive years of financial losses.

The current demands from CUPW have an estimated cost of over $3B over four years.

The Canadian government is taking steps to end a nearly month-long postal workers’ strike that has disrupted mail delivery nationwide just before the holiday season.
