What is contract management?

The short answer

Parcel contract management is the ongoing work of holding a carrier to the agreement after it is signed. ebb Logic™, our proprietary audit and analytics platform, monitors volume tiers and thresholds every week so banded discounts do not lapse, and models each annual rate increase against your own zones and weights before it takes effect. Our team reviews every carrier amendment against the original agreement before you sign it.

Parcel contract management includes tier compliance, analysis of annual rate changes, and amendment reviews before you sign. We track the terms that affect your shipping costs throughout the agreement.

The problemThe terms and billing details we review before estimating savings.

Your costs can change after the agreement is signed.

Discount tiers can change as volume changes. Amendments can also revise rates, exclusions or expiration dates. We review these changes against your existing agreement and explain their effect before you make a decision.

Annual rate increases affect each shipper differently. Your service mix, zones, weights and surcharges determine the change to your bill. We apply the new rates to your shipment history to estimate the impact.

Ongoing parcel contract management gives your team a clear record of these changes, ebb Logic™ checking the agreement every week, and someone responsible for acting on what it finds.

Why usWe work for shippers and receive no compensation from carriers.

What makes this different.

01

Rate increases reviewed in advance

ebb Logic™ applies the published general rate increase, or GRI, to your shipping history before it takes effect. You can see which services and shipments are most affected and work through your options with our team.

02

Discount thresholds monitored

ebb Logic™ tracks your position against volume and revenue thresholds every week and alerts you when you approach a change in discount tier.

03

Independent contract support

Our team reviews changes from your perspective, with the findings from ebb Logic™ behind each recommendation, and helps you decide what to discuss with your carrier.

Why this orderWe review your agreement and shipment data before recommending changes.

How this actually runs.

  1. Monitor tier and threshold compliance

ebb Logic™ monitors volume and revenue against your discount thresholds and alerts you when a tier change is approaching.

    Weekly
  2. Estimate the annual rate increase

ebb Logic™ applies the published general rate increase to your zones, weights and services, so you see the effect on your bill before it takes effect.

    Annually
  3. Read every amendment

We load each amendment into ebb Logic™, compare its terms with the original agreement and explain the changes before you sign.

    As received
  4. Re-test the agreement against current volume

ebb Logic™ compares your current shipping profile with the one used to set your terms, so we can tell you when a renegotiation may be worthwhile.

Common questionsContact us if your question is not listed. We can help you assess whether the service fits your needs.

Questions shippers ask first.

Is this not what our carrier rep already does?
Your carrier representative works for the carrier. Our contract management service provides an independent review of your terms, costs and potential changes on your behalf.
What is the 2026 general rate increase and what will it cost us?
UPS and FedEx both announced an average 5.9 percent increase for 2026, effective late December 2025 and early January 2026 respectively. The average is not your number. Both carriers also changed the size criteria for additional handling and large package surcharges, and those accessorials are rising faster than base rates. Shippers with the wrong package profile can land well above the headline figure.
How do we know if our negotiated rates are actually being applied?
ebb Logic™ compares every live invoice with the signed agreement after the new rates take effect and flags any term that was not applied. Verification is part of the negotiation engagement.
How much of our time does contract management take?
ebb Logic™ handles the monitoring and our team handles the review. We contact you when a threshold needs attention, an amendment requires a decision or the annual rate analysis is ready.
Can you manage a contract you did not negotiate?
Yes. We can review and monitor your existing agreement, even if another firm negotiated it. Any proposed renegotiation is discussed separately.
