When the field rolled out for qualifying at Flat Rock Speedway, driver Carson Brown proved once again that he is fastest when it counts. On Saturday, August 1, Brown claimed the Sioux Chief PowerPEX Pole Award for the ARCA Menards Series East race, making it two straight poles in as many events. Moreover, he did not simply win the pole. He set a new track record along the way.

A Record-Setting Qualifying Run

Brown signaled his speed early, topping the practice session before qualifying even began. Then, when it mattered most, he delivered a lap of 11.948 seconds at 75.326 mph. As a result, he not only earned his second career ARCA East pole but also reset the Flat Rock track record in the process.

In addition, this makes two consecutive poles, following his top qualifying effort in the East and ARCA Menards Series combination race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Notably, Brown sits ninth in the East point standings even though he missed the season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway. Consequently, his momentum heading into the back half of the season is hard to ignore. You can view the full qualifying results here.

A Hard-Fought Race Day

Starting up front, Brown led the opening 13 laps and looked poised for a strong result. Unfortunately, the race had other plans. Early mechanical, handling, and fuel pickup issues stacked up against him and ultimately pulled him back through the field. Meanwhile, Max Reaves persevered through a wild Sunbelt Rentals 150 to take the win, leading 130 laps. Still, qualifying pace like Brown showed does not disappear. Therefore, the speed that set a track record is exactly what turns into strong finishes once the results start falling his way. See the full race recap from Flat Rock.
