Each bar is the weight range the minimum charge decides, from 0 lb to the crossover, on a 0 to 150 lb scale. Longer means the floor is setting the price on more of your packages.

Read the crossover column this way: below that weight, the discount changes nothing and the carrier bills the minimum. If most of your volume sits under the crossover, you can raise the headline discount by ten points and the invoice will not move. That is the conversation this tool is meant to start. Published rates are FedEx Standard List Rates for Ground and Home Delivery, effective January 5, 2026. The minimum charge is yours to enter, because it is a negotiated term and every agreement has a different one.

Why this mattersThese results use published data. Your agreement may include different rates and terms.

What is minimum charge?

A minimum net charge is a floor under a carrier agreement. Below a certain billable weight and zone the discounted rate drops under the floor, so the floor is what gets billed and a deeper discount does not reduce the charge. The crossover weight is where the discounted rate rises above the floor and the discount starts to matter.

Worked example

With a $10.50 minimum net charge and a 55% incentive, a 1 lb zone 2 package lists at $11.99 and discounts to $5.40, so the $10.50 floor is billed and the incentive earns 12.4%. The crossover, where the discount starts to matter, is 31 lb in zone 2, 16 lb in zone 5 and 8 lb in zone 8. Raise the incentive to 65% and every crossover moves up: more packages are billed at the floor, not fewer.

Published rates, not your agreement

The calculator uses the FedEx Ground and Home Delivery list table and one incentive applied evenly across it. Your agreement may set different incentives by weight and zone, different minimums by service, or a minimum tied to the published rate that rises each January. Fuel and surcharges are added after the minimum and are not shown here.
