FedEx Freight President to Retire
Lance Moll Retires After 33 Years at FedEx Freight, Leaving a Legacy of Leadership and Innovation.
After an impressive 33-year career at FedEx, Lance Moll, president of FedEx Freight, will retire on January 31, transitioning to an executive advisor role until July 31 to ensure a smooth handover.
Moll’s journey with FedEx began in 1992 as a dock worker. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, holding pivotal roles in field operations and leading major initiatives. As senior vice president of Operations in 2018, he steered North American operations through the pandemic while prioritizing safety and customer service. Promoted to president in 2021, Moll achieved record-breaking safety milestones, profitability, and operating margins for FedEx Freight.
“Lance has been instrumental in FedEx Freight’s success, exemplifying leadership, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to safety,” said John Smith, chief operating officer of U.S. & Canada surface operations.
Following Moll’s departure, the FedEx Freight team will report to Smith until a new CEO is appointed. Smith will also oversee the planned separation of FedEx and FedEx Freight into two public companies, slated for completion within 18 months.
Moll’s tenure reflects a dedication to excellence and growth, marking the end of an era for FedEx Freight and the beginning of a new chapter for the company.
Moll’s retirement raises questions about who FedEx will choose to lead the spun-off FedEx Freight.
