    USPS proposing change in 2025

The USPS has proposed a new rule to stop using dual shipping labels by industry shipping partners. This change is part of the “Delivering for America” plan, which seeks to phase out services and policies that no longer align with USPS’s goals. Dual shipping labels, commonly used by private shippers like UPS, FedEx, or DHL, identify both the Postal Service and a private carrier as potential delivery agents. These labels are often used for services where USPS handles the last mile of delivery, such as UPS SurePost or FedEx Ground Economy.

In the past, those last-minute mile deliveries have confused recipients about which carrier delivered the package. They can’t tell because of the dual labels.

The proposal can be read in the Federal Register.
