Carrier Parcel On-time Performance in December 2024
The holiday shipping rush of 2024 put major carriers to the test, and new data from ShipMatrix, Inc. reveals how they performed.
Analyzing millions of parcels shipped between December 1 and December 31, the report highlights on-time performance (OTP) across all parcel services—including express, deferred, ground, and last-mile deliveries.
UPS emerged as the leader, delivering 96.5% of packages on time, maintaining its reputation for reliability during the busiest time of the year. FedEx followed with 91.8%, while the U.S. Postal Service recorded an OTP of 90.4%.
Compared to 2023, OTP declined across all carriers, with USPS experiencing the sharpest drop, potentially due to its Delivering for America plan.
With e-commerce booming and peak season volumes soaring, these figures underscore the importance of efficiency in logistics. As businesses and consumers continue to rely on timely deliveries, performance metrics like these shape customer trust and industry standards.
