USPS Proposes New Postage Rates for July 2025

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced a proposed update to its postage pricing, with changes expected to take effect on July 13, 2025, pending approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). These proposed rates are part of the Delivering for America 10-year plan, designed to guide the Postal Service toward long-term financial sustainability.

    📌 Key Proposed Price Increases:

    • Forever Stamp: From 73¢ to 78¢
    • Metered Letter (1 oz): From 69¢ to 74¢
    • Domestic Postcards: From 56¢ to 62¢
    • International Postcards & Letters (1 oz): From $1.65 to $1.70
    • Additional Letter Ounce: From 28¢ to 29¢

In a bit of good news, USPS also plans to reduce postal insurance fees by 12%, providing some relief to customers who insure their shipments.

    📊 What It Means

Overall, the proposed changes represent a 7.4% average increase in mailing service prices. USPS notes that its rates are still among the most affordable in the world, and the increases are necessary to ensure continued service and financial stability in a shifting mail and parcel delivery market.

The Postal Regulatory Commission will review the proposal in the coming months. If approved, the new pricing will take effect in mid-July.
