UPSUPS changes effective on or after 1/27/2025
Effective January 27, 2025 The Large Package Surcharge (LPS) will be determined using revised calculations based either on the shipment’s length, weight, or cubic volume. Regarding the Additional Handling Charge (AHC), the length plus girth definition for AHC will be replaced by a cubic volume definition to determine the applicability of AHC.
USPSUSPS proposing change in 2025
The USPS has proposed a new rule to stop using dual shipping labels by industry shipping partners. This change is part of the “Delivering for America” plan, which seeks to phase out services and policies that no longer align with USPS’s goals.

Amazon Air is now selling cargo capacity on their aircraft to third parties. Amazon stated they would provide space on 100+ aircraft with more than 250 daily flights, including partner airlines, and offer ad hoc, charter, or blocked space services.
UPSUPS adds fee for Credit Card Shippers.
For UPS invoices paid via credit card on or after October 26, 2024, an additional surcharge equal to 2% of the total amount paid will apply. In the past, shippers would accept lesser discounts to use a credit card. If this is the case, now is the perfect time to renegotiate with UPS.
ParcelDockworkers Reach Tentative Deal
The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) reached a tentative six-year agreement. This included a 62 percent increase in wages during the life of the agreement for the 45,000 members to return to work, raising the average wage from $39 to $63 an hour.
ParcelDockworkers on Strike
Longshoremen went on strike at ports along the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico at Midnight to start in October of 2024. This action will disrupt the economy and halt trade across various goods just weeks before the presidential election.
UPSUPS Surge Fee Increase
Effective October 13, 2024, UPS will revise Surge Fee rates and applicability. Once again, UPS is raising its rates by extending surge fees to cover shipments from the US to international destinations. As stated, these Surge Fees are subject to change, and Fuel Surcharge will apply based on the billable weight of the shipment.
